Come to the Table 2011

" 'tis the season...to drink tea!"

56 Ladies joined us on December 3, 2011 for a holiday tea party! Angela Widmer, Program director and Juanita Benedict, Food Service Director provided the stunning setting for a day spent with mothers and daughters and friends of all ages. There were fun facts about tea, a tea-tasting, and Wendy Leichty of Bethel Mennonite Church, Wayland, told of her time spent in the mission field in Ireland. Her photo presentation along with stories and experiences with tea time in Ireland was a highlight for those present. Other activities for the day included making 'cookies in a jar' (cookie mixes that guests could take home and give as gifts), decorating cookies in the shape of teapots, and lots of information about different teas and the many uses for tea. (For instance, did you know that black tea can be used as a natural astringent for your skin, or that green tea can be made into toothpaste?) The ladies were treated to a delicious lunch (click here for the recipes, click here for spiced cider recipe), enjoyed a break from all their holiday preparations during a 'Sabbath' time, and generally had a grand time. One participant shared this comment: "tea time was one of the best, fun things I have been to...what a treat from my best friend."
